Aum Maha Ganapathi Sharada Gurubhyo Namaha
Rishi Vandanam: Aum Angirasāya vidmahe Gauravithāya dheemahi tannah Sānkrityah prachodayat.
Adi Moola Ganapathi uvaacha: The meaning of Brahma Vidya is the experience of the self-luminous akshara or letter that a being has been created as, in its entirety of Avyakta or Unmanifest and Vyakta or Manifest as existing within and as existing outside and all-pervading that has its origin in Aksharam or Imperishable. This is the experience of the self-effulgence and self-luminosity of akshara or letter leading to Self-Realization and eventually to become immersed and absorbed into the Supreme Self.
As per the Puranic tale, Jagatpitha or Father of the Universe namely, Brahma as Panchamukha Brahma resided in this place of Swethāranyapuram or Thiruvenkadu to experience the Supreme Self or the Perfect Being in its entirety and continues to remain in thapas in this place of supreme luminosity and sanctity where one can experience the SATCHITANAND within by sitting down for thapas and surrendering to the Supreme Self even today. The Supreme Self has taken the saguna or deity form of Brahmavidyāmbal radiating Supreme Knowledge of the Supreme Self as the Guru.
Here, the Supreme Being as Brahmavidyāmbal wrote this AIM beeja akshara or letter on the navel of Brahma. Hence, Brahma became the principal cause for creation. Here, Brahma is constantly meditating upon this AIM beeja akshara or letter as well as other beeja aksaras that Brahmavidyāmbal gave Him upadesham of at various times in this place.
The Supreme Self as Brahmavidyāmbal is the bestower of that experience and realization of the self-effulgence and self-luminosity of the akshara or letter that a being has been created as that has its origin in itself i.e Aksharam or Imperishable or Supreme Self. This experience and realization is bestowed after a created being follows the assigned path, sadhana, anushtana and duties as laid down by the self-luminous akshara or letter that is the Guru for a created being and showing gratitude or kritagyata, acceptance or Anumodhana, equanimity or Samatā and Self-Surrender. This will lead to the transcendental journey of Swayambhu Lingam and transcendence of the Avyakta or Unmanifest leading to immersion and absorption into the Supreme Self.
This is the true meaning of Vandana or offering prostrations and surrendering to the Supreme Self i.e the Atma linga puja. Atma linga puja is offering prostrations and surrendering to the Self or Atman that is the self-luminous akshara or letter that has its origin in Aksharam or Imperishable or Supreme Self.
Generally, it has been said in the Puranas and other authoritative texts, that AIM akshara or letter is Saraswathi beeja akshara or letter also known as the primordial beeja akshara or letter for Vidya or knowledge. Hence, AIM beeja akshara or letter has been kept as the primordial beeja akshara or letter for all the saguna devathas. It is the beeja akshara or letter that will aid a created being to realize and experience the self-effulgence and self-luminosity in every atom in his or its body as its origin is in Aksharam or Imperishabale or Supreme Self. It is generally believed to reside in the throat region (kanta) for meditation purposes and other practices.
It is to be known in this kshetra that the inner secret of this AIM beeja akshara or letter of AI is the throat region (kanta) and EM refers to dissolution. AI refers to vowel and EM refers to consonant. The union of vowel and consonant results in the self-effulgence or light. This is referable to the Avyakta or Unmanifest and Vyakta or Manifest of the self-luminous akshara or letter that has its origin in Aksharam or Imperishable.
When a child continually writes this, and begins to contemplate on its importance through repetition, its greatness can be experienced even by a dumb child who will then begin to speak. If abhishekha is done to Brahmavidyāmbal here either at Her Lotus Feet or Her head with either til oil or honey with the appropriate incantations and partaken as prasad, then a dumb child will also speak, as, such is the greatness of that AIM akshara or letter. This is a kshetra that will give immediate benefit.
When this AIM beeja akshara or letter is kept in the throat region (kanta) and meditated upon, then the blessings of Manonmani will be obtained. The entire gamut of creation and all the celestial beings reside within this Avyakta or Unmanifest and Vyakta or Manifest of the self-luminous akshara or letter that has its origin in Aksharam or Imperishable and Manonmani is none other than the Supreme Self and hence, a created being will be able to experience the transcendental journey of Swayambhu Lingam leading him or it to become immersed and absorbed into the Supreme Self.
It has been said that when the great Shaiva Saint, Jnanasambandhar cried for Mother’s attention, Ambike breast-fed him. When Ambike gave him milk, She wrote this AIM beeja akshara or letter. As Ambike wrote this AIM beeja akshara or letter, Jnanasambandhar began to sing. Jnanasambandhar experienced that the right ear of Eshan as Omkara swaroopa to be the Truth and the Supreme Energy.
Hence, it has been said that whenever Jnanasambandhar prays to the Supreme Energy, the Supreme Energy or Being will manifest immediately. This great revelation can be witnessed comprehensively in this place.
Here the Chandra theertham is no ordinary theertham. All the Brahmaaadidevargal or Celestial Beings also come here to this theertham for this Jnana Vidya and to expiate their sins i.e to eliminate the blemishes and failings that arise because of the fights between the devas and asuras. They come down to this theertham to Swethāranya to attain this Brahma swaroopa of the Supreme Self and do the Atma linga puja daily praying to Eshan and their experience and realization of that self-effulgence and self-luminosity is the secret in this kshetra.
The reason for Agora murthy to be here is that Eshan will destroy the asura attributes and nature within each and every being and bestow that Atma swaroopa existing within and this is the reason that He remains here as Agora murthy.
Eshan took the Dakshinamurthy swaroopa in this Swethāranya to reveal that to come out of that asura nature and to bestow blessings on the devas helping them overcome the sense of doership and ego thereby helping them to realize and experience the self-effulgence and self-luminosity, Eshan killed that asura consenting to the prayers of Sanakadi Paramarshis and declared that realization and experience of self-effulgence and self-luminosity can be attained only from jnana.
All the mahaangal namely Jnanasambandhar and Thirunaavukasar offered service to Shiva and suffered many trials and tribulations as they went from kshetra to kshetra singing songs to have darshan of the Atma linga or Self within with utmost difficulty. But to bestow blessings upon all the created beings in Kali Yuga immediately, each and every one of them reside in every kshetra to help a seeker realize and experience the self-effulgence and self-luminosity of the self-luminous akshara or letter that has its origin in Aksharam or Imperishable.
This is the purpose of visiting sacred places. The purpose of doing these kshetra visits is to obtain the blessings of the great Sages, Saints and Siddha Purushas who are an embodiment of kindness and radiance who reside in these sacred places to guide the created beings to realize and experience the self-effulgence and self-luminosity of the self-luminous akshara or letter.

As one continues to mediate upon this AIM beeja akshara or letter, he or it will realize and experience the self-effulgence and self-luminosity of the self-luminous akshara or letter and the Supreme Being as Brahmavidyāmbal will come as one’s Guru to reveal the way to become immersed and absorbed into the Supreme Self.
