Avyakta beeja or seed

Adi Moola Ganapathi uvaacha: The upadesh of Maha Vakyas has been extolled in  Shukarahasyopanishad, called as the crown of the Upanishads. Generally, it has been an important discipline followed by Jeevanmuktas and Jnanis and seen in the biography of Sadguru Seshadri Swamigal of Thiruvannamalai.

 

In the Shukarahasyopanishad, Lord Shiva gives the upadesh of the Maha Vakyas to Shree Shuka Paramarshi as a beautiful composition worthy of the highest praise, revealing the greatness of the Maha Vakyas, the importance of the Maha Vakyas, the purpose of the upadesh of the Maha Vakyas and the end goal of the same.

 

As explained earlier, Vedas are self-luminous aksharas or letters that have expanded themselves in a creative yet unmanifest state and these Maha Vakyas are the quintessence of the Vedas that are again the subtle self-luminous aksharas or letters. While for simpler understanding, it can be said that the Vedas are both Avyakta or Unmanifest and Vyakta or Manifest, the Maha Vakyas are the subtle self-luminous aksharas or letters in their subtlest form or nature with inherent light, sound and matter namely AUM otherwise known as SATCHITANAND.

 

As these Maha Vakyas are the subtle nature or form of the self-luminous aksharas or letters, they are to be known, realized, experienced within every atom in its entirety and hence, every action and inaction, fruits of the actions and inactions, words, thoughts, speech, anushtana, sadhana, practice, yāga, yagna, dhāna, dharma, japa, mantra japa, dhyāna, jnāna, vijnana, rituals, mantra sadhana, tapas and others reveal the origin of the source of existence known as Avyakta beeja or seed.

 

The Vyakta or Manifest “body” or “physical form and shape” of a created being that is the self-luminous akshara or letter and the Avyakta or Unmanifest state of the self-luminous akshara or letter in whose form the created being comes into existence will need to be in harmony to become immersed and absorbed into the Supreme Self and thereby reveal the origin of the source of existence known as Avyakta beeja or seed. This can be achieved only through Self-Surrender.

 

Hence, the upadesh of the Maha Vakyas is an important discipline for one to pierce through every atom and every plane however subtle to transcend even the Avyakta or Unmanifest to become immersed and absorbed into the Supreme Self that is Aksharam or Imperishable and the Avyakta beeja or seed. Hence, as the vast expanse of creation and universe is subtle in its nature, it is both these aspects that need to be perceived and understood as they are interlinked and interwoven.

 

The complex structure of the atom is both relative and absolute and dynamic and static. This is indeed ambiguous but so is the nature of creation. The outer layers and spaces within the atom of creation spreads in different directions and are considered to be denser and vast in its expanse and as it moves into the inner circles of the “body” or the manifest or Vyakta state of the self-luminous akshara or alphabet with the creation differentials becomes more subtle than the outer layers and moves further inwards into the more subtle planes and spaces of the unmanifest or Avyakta state of the self-luminous akshara or alphabet to finally reach the subtlest centre of the atom.

 

This will indeed be difficult to perceive and hence has to be experienced and transcended as  said earlier. This is the reason why so much value and importance has been given to every ritual, sadhana, anustana, practice, yāga, yagna, dhāna, dharma, japa, mantra japa, dhyāna, jnāna, yoga, Vedaopasana, Nadopasana, mantra sadhana, thapas and every other methodology prescribed in the scriptures and by the myriad forms of the Supreme Self which needs to be practised along with act of showing gratitude or Kritagyata and offering thanks to the Supreme Self, practising acceptance or Anumodhana and most importantly Self-Surrender.

 

It is imperative to follow the instructions and surrender to the Self or self-luminous akshara or alphabet to experience and transcend the dense and subtle layers of creation so that each and every subtlest of subtle atoms resonate the Primordial Sound – Sabda Brahman, are filled with the brilliance of a million Suns – Primordial Light and experience the unmanifest or Avyakta state of the self-luminous akshara or alphabet being Consciousness – Chaitanya that is AUM. This is the surest path to become immersed and absorbed into the Supreme Self where one will stand as the Avyakta beeja or seed themselves.
