Guru asks, “Child, why is the knowledge of akshara necessary? Why is it known as Akshara Vijnāna? What is the science of an akshara?
As I said earlier, every created being is in the form or shape of the self-luminous akshara. The vast and expansive creation with the ever-changing differentials of nature is within the subtle nature of his self-luminous akshara. The created being should contemplate and ponder over his creation that will lead him to identify the subtle self-luminous akshara form he is in.
How will identifying his self-luminous akshara form and subtle nature help him? It helps him because then he will know the cause and source of his creation that will lead him to the subtlest of subtle Supreme Self.
The purpose of sadhana, anuṣṭhāna, dhyāna, japa, yagna, yāga, jnāna, mantra sadhana, rituals, dharma, dāna and others is to make every created being know, realize, understand and experience the Supreme Self with the help of and using the self-luminous aksharas as a vehicle that is termed as “body”.
Hence, it has been said that a “body” is necessary to realize the Supreme Self. What is this “body”? It is AUM. It is Sabda Brahman. It is Primordial Sound. It is Primordial Light. It is Matter. It is Time. It is Self-Effulgence.
It is the self-luminous aksharas and the intermingling and union of these aksharas creating this vast universe with all the parameters and differentials. Most importantly, it should be looked upon as one’s best friend to realize the Supreme Self.
This “body” is the form or shape that the self-luminous akshara with inherent light, sound, matter and creative differentials of the universe takes on. These are seen as the myriad forms of beings in the universe as trees, plants, fruits, flowers, birds, animals and others as well as the myriad forms of the Supreme Self as the innumerable Devathas, their innumerable respective mantras and sadhanas and practices, the Vedas, the Vakyas, the various interpretations of the Supreme Self in discourses in the Puranas and Upanishads and other scriptural texts.
As every entity in this universe is in the form or shape of the self-luminous akshara and all of creation is the self-luminous aksharas, Akshara Vijnāna is necessary and imperative as the self-luminous akshara will lead one to Aksharam.
The vast expansive creation within this “body” of self-luminous aksharas with inherent light, sound, matter and differentials of nature through the subtle nature of the self-luminous aksharas will lead one to Aksharam. This is the science of an akshara.
To put it plainly, the seed of a created bring is the self-luminous akshara that has manifested from Aksharam.”
